Ann Arbor, MI. – January 30 2024 – The Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., is making a historic statement by supporting the Black tech-based cancer charity, Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, in celebration of Black History Month. The partnership will launch on World Cancer Day, Sunday, February 4, 2024, with a Social Media Takeover featuring founder Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green live on NPHC social media, @NPHChq, @ipt1963, and @OraLeeOrg on Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This launch is to raise awareness and garner support for our Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., and NPHC Beyond Hope Day of Giving on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at OraLee.Org/Iotas.
“It is a great honor to announce this partnership,” declared Dr. Sean D. Housen, Sr., 23rd International Grand Polaris of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., “as it represents Iota’s continual search to engage in meaningful community service. Under Dr. Green’s leadership and vision, the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation is poised to make significant breakthroughs in the treatment of cancer. We could not be more excited to partner with an organization that is blazing new trails. Iota is prepared to commit to this partnership over the long-term and to stand with Dr. Green and her visionary team.”
Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., is now partnering with the Ora Lee Foundation, founded by world-renowned cancer researcher and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green, who is committed to keeping the groundbreaking cancer treatment she developed affordable for all, and this is an opportunity for us all to help.
“I am grateful that the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., leadership and my D9 family are joining our efforts to eradicate cancer,” said Dr. Green. “This partnership is a testament to their unwavering commitment to providing service and advocacy for our communities – where our cancer treatment is most needed.”
The Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is on a mission to change the way cancer is treated and reduce cancer patient suffering by providing a treatment that is accessible, affordable, and effective. Despite the best approaches, 9 million cancer-related deaths occur yearly. Dr. Green developed Laser-Activated Nano-Therapy (LANT), which has proven complete elimination of human cancer in laboratory mice after one 10-minute treatment in just 15 days, without observable side effects, surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. LANT, which is also a multi-cancer platform therapy, has implications for a variety of solid tumor types, including breast, colorectal, ovarian, skin, brain, anal, and prostate cancers.
Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. was founded on September 19, 1963, on the campus of Morgan State College. The twelve men who founded Iota Phi Theta Fraternity were all nontraditional students since they were 3- 5 years older than the average college student, and some even had families. Despite their unconventional standings, these twelve men joined together to create the latest and greatest fraternity to become a part of the NPHC. The principles that Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. was founded upon are the ones that we continue to hold today- Scholarship, Citizenship, Leadership, Fidelity, and Brotherhood. The motto that was created more than 52 years ago is still practiced today by the brothers of Iota because we are constantly "Building A Tradition, Not Resting Upon One."
NPHC has committed to raising $2.5 million towards the $10 million needed to begin human clinical trials with the LANT cancer treatment. This $2.5 million goal is easily reached with $100 contributions from 25,000 members, but no amount is too small or too large. Everyone is invited to give whatever they can.
